A lawyer in his 50s was shot dead in his office in Rishon L’Tzion early Tuesday afternoon.
The lawyer’s business partner found him suffering from gunshot wounds and alerted police.
Emergency responders who arrived at the scene found him unconscious and were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.
The suspect has not yet been apprehended, and police are conducting extensive searches to locate him. The motive is believed to be criminal.
An employee in the office building told Ynet that he had been working in the lobby when police ordered everyone to evacuate the building.
“Only afterward did we realize that someone had been murdered on the third floor.”
Large police forces arrived at the scene while officers launched a manhunt for the gunman, who fled after the shooting. Investigators from the Rishon L’Tzion police station have begun collecting footage from security cameras and taking witness statements.
They are also examining whether the lawyer had been scheduled to meet with a client at the time of the shooting, whether he had received threats, and whether the murder was connected to his legal work or stemmed from another motive.
Magen David Adom EMTs Naftali Halberstadt and Meir Binenfeld said: “We arrived at the scene and joined the police forces. We saw a man lying unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with a penetrating wound to his body. We performed medical examinations, but unfortunately had to pronounce him dead at the scene.”
