Wesley Bell, the Democrat running for Congress in Missouri’s Tuesday primary, trounced his opponent Cori Bush, the former anti-Israel congresswoman, in a landslide, winning by more than 20 percentage points.

This is not the first time Bush has lost to Bell. He also defeated her in the August 2024 primary, running as the establishment-aligned Democrat against the progressive and more radical Bush.

AIPAC, which heavily supported Bell, featured prominently in Bush’s attack ads against the pro-Israel Democrat.

Bell reminded Bush that voters had concerns other than the Middle East. Criticizing Bush for focusing on Israel and talking “over and over … about an issue that is not impacting folks right here in St. Louis,” he said that “while we take those issues seriously, you know, the M in Missouri doesn’t stand for Middle East. It stands for Missouri.”

“There’s going to be times we disagree on issues but that never should stop us from doing the work of regular folks,” Bell told voters in his victory speech.
