President Trump took aim at socialist candidates such as Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, warning that history shows socialist movements consistently leave nations worse off.

“Well, I think it’s crazy because they’re going to ruin our country,” Trump said.

He argued that, regardless of the name or era, radical socialist ideologies have repeatedly ended in failure.

“No matter where you look, go back a thousand years with different names, anybody doing what they are doing and what they are espousing, everything turns out to ashes and junk and filth,” Trump said.

The president also claimed that cities governed by socialists and communists become neglected over time.

“But you go to these cities that are taken over by the socialists and the communists and they’re always filthy, dirty. They’re disgusting!” he added.
