It turns out that Abdul El-Sayed, the Michigan primary winner for the Democratic Senate seat who has relentlessly denounced AIPAC, has accepted money from people and groups with ties to terrorist organizations, Fox News reported.

People who have worked for or held leadership roles at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) have donated more than $115,000 to El-Sayed’s campaign. The United Arab Emirates, along with Texas and Florida, have designated CAIR as a foreign terrorist organization.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Justice designated CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the terrorism financing case of the Holy Land Foundation, at the time the largest Muslim charity in the United States, which funneled millions of dollars in donations to Hamas.

El-Sayed has made “getting money out of politics” a central theme of his campaign, yet Fox News found that he accepted donations from 41 people affiliated with CAIR. Some of these people held top positions. For example, national Board Chair Manal Fakhoury, national Board Treasurer Eyas Abdeen, national Vice Chair Emad Sabbah, and CAIR-Michigan board member Jukaku Tayeb, El-Sayed’s father-in-law, all donated to El-Sayed’s campaign.

El-Sayed’s father-in-law turns out to be quite a liability: He is one of the founders of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a group with ties to the funding of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad, also named Nehad Hammad, described Oct. 7 as an event that made him “happy” and denied Israel’s right to defend itself, sparking a fierce national backlash. He was also found to be a donor to El-Sayed’s primary campaign.

El-Sayed has enjoyed support from members and leaders of CAIR not only in Michigan but across the country, from California, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Washington, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio and others.

Fox News has also named other top-ranking CAIR officials as donors: CAIR-California Governance Board Treasurer Rubina Alvi; CAIR-California Governance Board Chair Asaad Traina; CAIR-Michigan board member Muzammil Ahmed, who contributed $11,600 to El-Sayed’s campaign; CAIR-California Governance Board member Atef Ibrahim; CAIR-California Governance Board member Dina Ezzeddine; and former CAIR National Board Chair Roula Allouch.

El-Sayed has had a connection of his own to CAIR, appearing as a speaker at a CAIR event in which he slammed Oklahoma’s ban on sharia law, comparing it to the Trail of Tears.
