GAZA FRONT: IDF Chief Vows To Pursue Everyone Responsible For October 7 Massacre

Aug 6, 2026·2 min read

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir toured the Gaza Strip on Wednesday alongside senior Southern Command officers and said the IDF has significantly weakened Hamas and changed the security situation.

Zamir was joined by Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor, 99th Division commander Brig. Gen. Elad Tzuri, Gaza Division commander Brig. Gen. Liron Batito, and additional commanders. During the visit, he received an operational assessment and spoke with division and brigade commanders operating in the area

“In the Gaza Strip, we are systematically striking Hamas, we have significantly weakened it, and we have changed the security situation,” Zamir said. “The IDF will continue to act proactively, remove threats, and, under all circumstances, provide forward defense for the communities and residents.”

Zamir stressed that the IDF would not allow another threat like the one Israel faced on October 7 to develop along its borders.

“We will not allow a threat to develop along our borders like the one we experienced on October 7,” he said.

Addressing the pursuit of the Nukhba terrorists and others who participated in the massacre, Zamir said, “The images from the communities, the Bibas family, the female observation soldiers, and all the victims of the October 7 massacre are before our eyes every day.”

“We will continue pursuing those responsible for the massacre, and we will not relent until we settle accounts with everyone who played a part in the massacre,” he added.

Zamir said the Gaza front is part of a broader multi-front campaign and that the IDF continues to operate with “a spirit of initiative, offensive action, and commitment to the mission.”
