United Airlines and KLM have announced plans to resume flights to Israel after suspending service for months amid the ongoing security situation.

KLM said it will restart its direct route between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam beginning August 25, restoring a major European connection that had been repeatedly suspended as the airline monitored security developments in the region.

The Dutch carrier was among several international airlines that halted flights to Israel amid heightened regional tensions. Its return is expected to provide travelers with additional options between Israel and the Netherlands, as well as connecting flights to destinations across Europe.

United Airlines also announced Friday that it will resume service to Israel beginning September 8.

The return of the two major international carriers marks another step toward restoring foreign airline service to Ben Gurion Airport following months of widespread disruptions and suspensions.
