Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, with the two leaders discussing the growing strategic partnership between Israel and India and developments across the Middle East.

During the call, Netanyahu and Modi reviewed progress across multiple areas of what India describes as the “special strategic partnership” between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The leaders also exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East and agreed to remain in close contact.

Following the conversation, Modi said the relationship between India and Israel continues to deepen.

“Received a phone call from Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu,” Modi wrote on X. “We reviewed the progress in various aspects of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, which continues to strengthen and expand steadily. We also exchanged views on the current situation in West Asia.”

The conversation follows Modi’s two-day visit to Israel in February 2026, when he arrived at the head of a senior delegation of Indian ministers and officials at Netanyahu’s invitation.

During that visit, the leaders highlighted Modi’s historic 2017 trip to Israel and Netanyahu’s reciprocal visit to India in 2018, which helped lay the groundwork for expanded economic, security and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
