A horrific tragedy struck the Chareidi community in Lod on Sunday after a 5-year-old boy was R”L found unconscious inside a vehicle where he had reportedly been left for an extended period of time.

Emergency responders from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom were rushed to Tzemach Tzadik Street after receiving reports of an unconscious child inside a car.

MDA and Hatzalah teams found the boy unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, and suffering from severe signs of heatstroke. Paramedics immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts as the boy was transported to Shamir Medical Center-Assaf Harofeh in Tzrifin.

Despite the desperate efforts to save his life, doctors at the hospital were forced to pronounce the child dead.

Israel Police said officers from the Lod station responded to the scene and opened an investigation, collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

United Hatzalah renewed its urgent warning to parents and caregivers never to leave children or infants unattended inside a vehicle, even for a moment. The organization also urged members of the public to remain vigilant during the hot summer months and check parked vehicles if there is any possibility that a child may have been left inside.
