It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Rebbetzin Leah Lederman, a”h, an extremely righteous woman, a wise and brilliant person, a phenomenal educator, and the devoted Rebbetzin of Hagaon Rav Moshe Lederman, shlit”a. She was 61 years of age, and suffered from a lung infection for a short time before her passing.
The Rebbetzin was the daughter of Reb Tzvi Shimon and Hadassah Beila Sussholtz, and she was raised toward a lifetime of Torah and yiras Shomayim.
She married Hagaon Rav Moshe Meir Lederman, shlit”a, the prize talmid of Hagaon Rav Shmuel Berenbaum, zt”l, Rosh Yeshivas Mir in Flatbush, who is world-renowned for his Torah brilliance.
For decades, she served as the principal of Beis Yaakov d’Gur—a position she regarded as a sacred calling. One Gerer chossid told BoroPark24 that Rebbetzin Lederman was a tzadekes who was extremely devoted to each and every talmidah in the school.
The Rebbetzin was known for her brilliance, her outgoing nature, and her middos tovos.
One yungerman, a longtime talmid in the yeshiva, described her as a maternal figure to the nshei of the kehillah…. Mamash like a mother. She was greatly beloved and admired by all her knew her.”
She was a true eishes chayil, a strong and ardent support to her husband in his avodas hakodesh of teaching, guiding, and learning—playing an extremely important role in everything that he did.
This spring, the Rebbetzin finished another successful year of leading the Beis Yaakov, and she was hospitalized shortly thereafter. Complications unfortunately developed, and returned her neshamah to its Maker shortly before Shabbos.
The levaya will take place 4pm on Sunday afternoon at the Yazlovitzer Beis Medrash on 45th Street—an event that will bring together the talmidim of the yeshiva from throughout the decades, as well as scores of admirers and acquaintances of the Rebbetzin who will mourn her untimely loss.
