TRAGIC: 12-Year-Old Boy Dies in Jordan River After Boat Capsizes
The Israel Rescue and Fire Authority sent out rescue teams Sunday to search for a 12-year-old boy from Modi’in Illit after his boat capsized in the Jordan River.
After he was pulled from the water, Magen David Adom delivered emergency aid but failed to resuscitate him and declared him dead at the scene.
Israel Police, other emergency services, a police helicopter and a United Hatzalah drone participated in the search, while the Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit was on hand to provide emotional first aid.
“A 12-year-old boy was located and pulled from the water by the Golan Rescue Unit and brought to the banks of the Jordan River without signs of life. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. United Hatzalah assisted in the search efforts with our drone unit, and our Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit provided emotional first aid at the scene due to the nature of the incident,” United Hatzalah emergency responders said.
The boy has been identified as Elchanan Karni, a student at a Breslov Talmud Torah in Modi’in Illit.
