Concrete plants established along the Gaza border to help seal Hamas tunnels are reportedly being transferred from Israeli control to full American management and funding, marking another expansion of the U.S. role in Gaza.

The facilities, located near Nahal Oz and Kerem Shalom, were established in recent months and have been operated by private contractors on behalf of Israel’s Defense Ministry.

The plants were built to produce the large quantities of concrete needed to seal underground tunnels discovered by IDF forces in Gaza, including tunnels still being located in areas along the Yellow Line.

According to a report by Army Radio correspondent Doron Kadosh, responsibility for the facilities is now being transferred to the U.S. command center in Kiryat Gat, which will assume responsibility for both their management and financing.

Contractors currently operating the concrete plants have reportedly been informed by Israel’s Defense Ministry that their employer will soon effectively become the United States.

The move raises questions about whether the facilities will continue to be used exclusively for sealing tunnels or could eventually be redirected toward reconstruction projects inside Gaza.

Neither Defense Minister Israel Katz’s office nor the Defense Ministry has commented on the report.

The development comes amid a growing American role in postwar arrangements for Gaza. Recent steps have included Israeli approval for a multinational force to operate in Gaza and a green light for reconstruction work to begin in Rafah.

Kadosh noted that the transfer of the concrete plants, when viewed alongside those developments and increased U.S. involvement in Israeli policy regarding Gaza, could indicate a broader shift in responsibility for developments inside the enclave.

The report also comes against the backdrop of President Donald Trump’s previous statements about the United States taking a major role in Gaza and its future, with Washington increasingly involved in security, reconstruction and diplomatic arrangements surrounding the territory.
