A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, with its epicenter near San José del Palmar in the Chocó region. The shaking was felt hundreds of miles away in Bogotá and across neighboring Ecuador and Venezuela.

Chocó Gov. Nubia Córdoba says there are injuries and significant damage to buildings in the regional capital of Quibdó, while emergency teams carry out damage assessments and brace for possible aftershocks.

Damage is also being reported across several major cities. In Cali, buildings suffered partial structural collapses and facade damage, while reports from Pereira, Armenia and Manizales indicate additional structural damage. No deaths have been confirmed so far.

Authorities are continuing to assess the full scale of the damage as the situation develops.
