“Move Heaven and Earth”: Family’s Heart-Wrenching Plea For Soldier Seriously Wounded in Lebanon
Medical teams at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa are fighting to save the life of Dolev, a 26-year-old IDF soldier from Karmiel who was seriously wounded during a deadly battle in southern Lebanon, Channel 14 reported Monday.
According to the report, the soldier is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit, sedated and on a ventilator. His family, who have remained at his bedside since he was wounded, issued an emotional appeal to the public to daven for the refuah sheleimah of Dolev ben Atara.
Dolev was injured last week during an operation in the village of Majdal Zoun in Lebanon, approximately six to eight kilometers from Israel’s northern border. The force entered a building to search it as part of clearing and security operations, but the building turned out to be booby-trapped. A powerful explosive device exploded, and the blast led to part of the building collapsing on the soldiers.
The company commander, Maj. (res.) Harel Birenstock Hy”d, and combat medic Master Sgt. (res.) Tamir Vaknin Hy”d, were killed in the explosion. Four other soldiers from the same force were seriously wounded, including Dolev.
Immediately following the incident, rescue and medical forces from the Northern Command and the Israeli Air Force were dispatched to the scene. Operating under difficult conditions and under fire, they worked to evacuate the soldiers and casualties as quickly as possible by helicopter to hospitals in Israel.
Upon Dolev’s arrival at Rambam Medical Center, he immediately underwent a series of lifesaving treatments. His condition is currently serious and stable, but critical.
The family is asking the public to continue davening for the refuah sheleimah of Dolev ben Atara b’toch sha’ar cholei Yisrael.
