Rabbi Yehuda Gerami visited the New York offices of the Tzedek Association Monday evening, meeting with the organization’s president, Rabbi Moshe Margaretten.
Speaking with Belaaz, Rabbi Gerami confirmed he is currently in the country for summer vacation.
Gerami’s visit has drawn attention given his position within Iran’s Jewish community in Tehran and relationship to the Iranian regime, with many wondering about the circumstances under which he is able to travel freely.
Belaaz has also learned that despite the IRGC and the Iranian regime historically maintaining relatively cordial relations with the country’s Jewish community, Iranian state media has recently shifted tone, increasingly characterizing Jews in hostile terms, R”L.
Belaaz has chosen not to publish additional travel details, given the sensitivities involved.
