Video footage shows Jews being abused and shoved as they passed a “Free Palestine” group during Athens’ planned “Day of Rage” protests over the war in Gaza Sunday.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry had issued a warning to Israelis and Jews to lie low ahead of the protests, which were scheduled to take place across the country during peak travel season, when Greece is a top tourist destination for Israelis on summer vacation.

“Given the expected scale of the protests and the possibility of large gatherings and disturbances, the Foreign Ministry recommends that Israeli citizens in Greece exercise increased vigilance, stay away from protest sites and large gatherings, and avoid any friction or confrontation with demonstrators,” the ministry said in a statement.

“It is recommended to keep Israeli and Jewish identifying symbols discreet and to avoid posting your location in real time on social media,” it added.

BDS Greece said in its announcement of the planned protests that it would “fill the entire country with Palestinian flags, keffiyehs, and slogans.”

“It’s been more than 1,000 days of genocide in Gaza, while in the West Bank, occupation, attacks, and the seizure of Palestinian land continue,” the group added, calling on Greece to impose an arms embargo and sanctions on Israel and end all military cooperation between the two countries.

The Combat Antisemitism Movement sent a reporter to the protests to interview people on the ground, some of whom said openly that they support Hamas.

“We support Hamas. Hamas is not a terrorist organization. Okay, Hamas is a resistance organization,” one participant said, as protesters chanted “Death, death to the IDF” in the background.

“People have the right to defend themselves against the occupation in any means necessary and possible, and that includes armed resistance,” she added.

“What happens in Gaza, it’s a kind of Holocaust,” another person said.

Someone who insisted that “we’re not antisemitic” added, “They have all the media, all the social platforms. They have controlled the world.”
