Israel’s Defense Ministry has awarded Ondas a strategic contract worth several million shekels to develop and manufacture a new generation of tactical attack drones for the IDF, as the military moves to expand the use of unmanned and autonomous systems across frontline units.

Under the contract, Ondas will lead development of a low-cost tactical strike drone designed to meet evolving battlefield requirements and allow widespread deployment among combat forces. The project is part of a broader Defense Ministry initiative to deepen the integration of tactical drones and autonomous systems into IDF operations.

The new system is expected to include a complete operational package, featuring an advanced aerial platform, autonomous capabilities, mission integration, systems engineering, production readiness and compatibility with the IDF’s command-and-control infrastructure

Attack drones have become an increasingly important tool on the modern battlefield because they can provide frontline forces with precise, readily available and flexible strike capabilities.

Ondas currently operates across four primary defense fields: air defense and counter-UAV systems, aerial intelligence, aerial strike systems and unmanned ground platforms. Its systems also incorporate artificial intelligence-based command-and-control and mission-management software designed to coordinate drones, sensors, robotic systems, combat forces and military command networks.

The company said the new contract further strengthens its position in the defense technology sector and supports its long-term strategy of expanding the development, production and support of advanced autonomous systems for defense organizations in Israel and abroad.
