HAMAS CONTROL: IDF Warns Gazans Of Torture, Acknowledges Terror Group Still Wields Power In Strip
The IDF issued an unusual Arabic-language warning to residents of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, saying Hamas has intensified interrogations and torture of civilians since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025 — an acknowledgment that the terrorist organization continues to exercise significant control over Gaza’s population.
“Beware: Since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, the IDF and Shin Bet have identified that Hamas has increased its interrogations and torture against you,” the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman said.
“Hamas is carrying out harsh interrogations involving torture against residents of the Gaza Strip as part of its desperate attempt to strengthen its position,” the statement continued.
The IDF also accused Hamas of continuing to exploit civilian infrastructure for its operations.
“Hamas exploits civilian buildings, including schools, hospitals and mosques, for military purposes,” the IDF said. “These facilities are used to carry out arbitrary arrests and systematic torture.”
Israeli military correspondent Doron Kadosh noted that the statement also highlights a broader reality inside Gaza: despite the war and subsequent ceasefire, Hamas continues to maintain mechanisms through which it controls and intimidates the civilian population.
The IDF’s assessment indicates that the terrorist organization retains the ability to detain residents, conduct interrogations and enforce its authority as it attempts to preserve and strengthen its grip on the Strip.
The statement comes amid continuing questions over Gaza’s postwar governance and efforts to prevent Hamas from rebuilding its military and governmental capabilities.
