A heartbreaking tragedy struck a Yerushalayim family Wednesday morning with the petirah of 3-year-old Yael Rivka Betzalel a”h, approximately two weeks after she choked on a grape at her home.
Yael Rivka, a resident of the Ramot neighborhood, had been hospitalized at Shaare Zedek Medical Center since the choking incident. She remained sedated and on a ventilator as doctors fought to save her life, but was tragically niftar Wednesday morning.
She was the daughter of Yitzchak and Chana Betzalel.
The tragedy comes at an especially painful time for the family, just one week before the scheduled chasuna of Yael Rivka’s older sister. Amid preparations for the upcoming simcha, the family must now accompany their young daughter to her final resting place.
The levayah is scheduled to leave the Shamgar Funeral Home in Yerushalayim at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, with kevurah in the Yemenite section of Har HaMenuchos.
