After months of frustration for residents of 46th Street between 14th and 15th Avenues, the city is finally taking action to remove green infrastructure construction materials that have been stored along the block.

The materials, which have occupied valuable parking spaces, contributed to traffic delays, and left portions of the residential block looking like a construction storage area, will now be moved to a new storage location along 21st Avenue near the cemetery, where they are expected to cause significantly fewer disruptions.

Multiple residents have reached out to BoroPark24 in recent months expressing frustration over the situation and its impact on their daily lives.

One resident told BoroPark24 that the situation had become overwhelming for families living on the block.

“At one point, it was literally affecting our mental health. It felt like we were living in a construction material storage yard,” the resident said. “This is what we saw when we woke up, when we opened the window for fresh air, when we came home after a day at work, and when our children played outside. It became part of every aspect of our daily lives.”

Residents are now expressing relief and gratitude as the materials are being relocated.

“We are extremely thankful to everyone who stepped in over the past few weeks and took action,” the resident added, "this includes representatives from the Department of Transportation, Community Board 12, Councilman Simcha Felder, and others who worked to find a solution."

For residents who have spent months navigating reduced parking, congestion, and construction materials outside their homes, the move brings a long-awaited end to an ongoing neighborhood headache.
