GLEN SPEY, NY - Assemblyman Aron Wieder visited Camp Teumim in Glen Spey this past week, touring the sprawling Catskills campus that is home to more than 850 mesivta bochurim from Lakewood, Brooklyn, and Monsey for the summer.

The camp is run by twin brothers, Rabbi Yaakov and Rabbi Chaim Metzger, and has built a reputation as a premier mesivta camp, combining serious learning sedorim with a full-scale summer camp experience. What began as a vision to provide yeshiva bochurim with both intense hasmada and top-tier programming has grown into a model for camps of its kind.

Over the past two years, the camp turned to Assemblyman Wieder for help navigating utility upgrades and regulatory hurdles. Wieder and his staff assisted in moving those issues forward.

During his visit, Wieder toured the camp's extensive grounds, including its batei medrash, sports fields, pools, and private lake, as well as the camp's extensive kitchen and multiple dining rooms serving the hundreds of bochurim. He was delighted to meet campers from his own district among the hundreds in attendance.

He said he was particularly impressed not only by the scale of the campus, but by the dedication and warmth shown by the directors, rabbeim, and staff to each talmid.

Addressing a few campers and the camp management during the tour, Wieder expressed his admiration for the camp:

"Where were you when I grew up?" Wieder said with a smile to Rabbis Chaim and Yaakov Metzger. "It's just amazing to see, nestled away in the Catskills, such a beautiful place for bochurim to come to spend a beautiful summer, to be able to learn. It's a tremendous honor to be part of it."

Wieder thanked the directors for the opportunity to assist the camp and said he looks forward to continuing to support its growth and success in the years ahead.
