The Village of Cedarhurst is pleased to announce that the expansion of Parking Field #10 on Washington Avenue is nearing completion, marking an important step forward in the Village’s ongoing efforts to improve parking availability, support local businesses, and make the downtown shopping district more convenient for residents, shoppers, and visitors.
After months of planning, preparation, site work, drainage improvements, lighting coordination, parking layout revisions, and paving activity, the project has reached one of its final stages. Weather permitting and barring any unforeseen construction issues, the Village anticipates that the expanded lot will be substantially completed and ready for use in approximately two to three weeks.
The expansion will double the capacity of the existing parking field and is expected to add approximately 50 new parking spaces. Once completed, Parking Field #10 will provide additional access to the Cedarhurst business district, helping to reduce congestion and making it easier for people to visit local stores, offices, restaurants, and community destinations.
“As Cedarhurst continues to attract shoppers and visitors, the availability of convenient parking remains essential to preserving the Village’s character, supporting local commerce, and ensuring that the business district remains accessible and welcoming,” said Mayor Benjamin Weinstock. “This project reflects the Village’s commitment to practical improvements that directly benefit residents, merchants, and visitors. We are excited to see Parking Field #10 approaching completion and look forward to opening the additional spaces very soon.”
Mayor Ben Weinstock, Deputy Mayor Ari Brown, Trustee Israel Wasser, and Trustee Daniel Plaut recently joined together at the site to mark the project’s progress and recognize the work that has gone into bringing the expansion to this stage. The project represents a meaningful investment in the Village’s infrastructure and in the long-term vitality of Cedarhurst’s commercial corridor.
In addition to increasing the number of available spaces, the work has included improvements intended to create a more functional and better organized parking area. These improvements are designed to make the lot easier to use, improve vehicle circulation, and support the continued growth and activity of the surrounding business district.
The Village thanks the public for its patience during the construction period and will continue to provide updates as the project moves through its final phase. Additional details regarding the official opening of the expanded Parking Field #10 will be shared as the completion date approaches.
