POLL SHOCKER: Mamdani Hits 69% Favorability In NYC But 66% Of Jewish Voters Disapprove
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is enjoying strong overall support among city voters, but a new Siena poll reveals a dramatically different picture among Jewish New Yorkers, who overwhelmingly hold a negative view of the socialist mayor.
According to the poll, 69% of New York City voters have a favorable opinion of Mamdani, while 24% view him unfavorably.
Mamdani’s support is particularly strong among younger voters. Among those between the ages of 18 and 34, 72% hold a favorable view of the mayor compared to 21% who view him negatively — a net positive rating of 51 points.
That represents a significant increase from January, when Mamdani’s net favorability among the same age group stood at 35 points.
Mamdani has also registered a dramatic turnaround among black voters. The poll found 78% now view him favorably and just 15% unfavorably, giving him a net positive rating of 63 points. In September 2025, his rating among the same demographic had been eight points underwater.
But among Jewish voters across New York State, the numbers are almost completely reversed.
A striking 66% of Jewish voters hold an unfavorable opinion of Mamdani, while just 26% view him favorably.
The divide comes amid continued criticism of Mamdani over his positions and rhetoric concerning Israel, which have fueled deep tensions with portions of New York’s Jewish community.
Statewide, Mamdani remains far more polarizing than he is inside New York City. Among likely voters across New York, 47% view him favorably while 44% have an unfavorable opinion.
The Siena poll surveyed 811 likely New York voters between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6 and carries a margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
