International communal diplomat Moshe Klein welcomed global media executive and strong advocate for Jewish life in Europe Mathias Döpfner to Williamsburg for an up-close introduction to American Jewish life.

Döpfner sought to experience the community beyond headlines and public perceptions, touring the neighborhood with Klein, meeting local residents and sampling some traditional Jewish food. The visit offered him a firsthand look at the traditions, values and daily life of one of America’s most prominent Orthodox Jewish communities.

The visit also reflects on Klein’s broader work in international and communal affairs. Through longstanding relationships with diplomats, heads of state and senior officials, he has helped foster dialogue, raise communal concerns and introduce global leaders to the life and values of the community.
