A Toms River man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in state prison after pleading guilty to terroristic threats stemming from a road rage confrontation in Atlantic City.

Frank Marin, 29, was sentenced on August 18 following his guilty plea in connection with the September 12 incident, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities said the confrontation began on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard after another driver stopped to allow an ambulance to cross an intersection. Marin, driving a white Nissan Altima, reportedly ran a red light and nearly collided with the other vehicle.

The two drivers exchanged words before the victim attempted to leave. Prosecutors said Marin then cut off the victim’s vehicle from the passenger side and threatened to kill both the driver and his dog.

Marin then retrieved a Taser from his vehicle and approached the victim’s car, authorities said. The victim drove forward and collided with Marin’s Nissan, after which Marin returned to his vehicle and fled the scene.

Marin later pleaded guilty to terroristic threats and was sentenced to three years in prison.
