MIAMI (VINnews) — The American Israel Public Affairs Committee on Tuesday congratulated 21 candidates it identified as pro-Israel who won their primary elections in Florida, including several who defeated candidates opposed to the U.S.-Israel alliance.
Among the winners were Republican Sen. Ashley Moody and Reps. Aaron Bean, Gus Bilirakis, Kat Cammack, Mario Diaz-Balart, Randy Fine, Scott Franklin, Carlos Gimenez, Mike Haridopolos, Laurel Lee, Anna Paulina Luna, Brian Mast, Jimmy Patronis, John Rutherford and Greg Steube.
Democratic winners named by AIPAC included Reps. Kathy Castor, Lois Frankel, Jared Moskowitz, Maria Elvira Salazar, Darren Soto and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
AIPAC said the victories bring the number of candidates it has backed who have advanced to the November general election to more than 254 across both parties.
The group said the Florida results demonstrate the strength of its political network and its effort to elect candidates who support the U.S.-Israel relationship.
The Florida primary featured several high-profile contests centered on Israel policy. Among them was the Republican race in the 6th Congressional District, where pro-Israel Rep. Randy Fine defeated Dan Bilzerian, whose campaign drew widespread criticism for antisemitic rhetoric and inflammatory comments about Israel and Jews.
The results come as debates over U.S. policy toward Israel and the war in Gaza have become an increasingly prominent fault line in both Democratic and Republican primary contests.
