
United Hatzalah Responders Successfully Resuscitate Several People In Cardiac Arrest
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A 67-year-old truck driver was successfully resuscitated on Thursday after collapsing beside his vehicle on Hel Ha’Avir Street in Jerusalem.
United Hatzalah emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports that the driver had suddenly lost consciousness while standing next to the truck he was operating. Bystanders who witnessed the medical emergency immediately alerted rescue services.
Upon arrival, emergency teams found the man unconscious and without a pulse. They began advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administered three shocks with a defibrillator.
Dr. Yishai Ben Ari, a volunteer physician with United Hatzalah, together with paramedic Yoni Rosenfeld and EMTs Itamar Hazan and Shimon Avitbul, led the lifesaving efforts.
“The patient was a truck driver who lost consciousness beside the truck he was working with,” the responders said. “We performed advanced resuscitation at the scene and administered three defibrillator shocks.”
After the prolonged resuscitation efforts, the man’s heart began beating again.
“Thankfully, his heartbeat was restored,” the responders said. “He was then evacuated by a mobile intensive care unit to the hospital in serious but stable condition.”
The incident is the latest in a series of successful cardiac arrest resuscitations reported in recent days in Jerusalem and central Israel. Earlier this week, emergency responders revived a 70-year-old man who collapsed on Natan Strauss Street in Jerusalem, while in a separate incident an 8-year-old boy who suddenly lost consciousness at his home in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood was also successfully resuscitated. In Tel Aviv, a 67-year-old woman was successfully resuscitated after she lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest.
The cases underscore the critical importance of rapid emergency response and the early use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), which can dramatically improve survival rates when used within the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest.
