A pickup truck erupted in flames in Central Nyack on Thursday morning, sending heavy flames and smoke into the air as the fire quickly spread to a nearby three-story townhouse and drew a large emergency response.

The fire began in the pickup truck, which was parked next to the home at 34 Forest Road. The vehicle became fully engulfed before the flames reached the siding of the nearby townhouse, with firefighters rushing to stop the blaze from spreading further.

Central Nyack Fire Department responded to the scene, with mutual aid from the West Nyack and Piermont fire departments. Clarkstown Police also responded as crews worked to bring the fast-spreading fire under control.

Minor injuries were reported after one person fell while evacuating her home and was treated following the incident.

Fire investigators are now working to determine what caused the pickup truck to catch fire and the exact origin of the blaze.
