Following the successful completion of the recent Montibello eruv extension, organizers turned their attention to another major undertaking: a significant expansion of the Suffern eruv to include dozens of families who until now remained outside its boundaries.

The newly completed extension covers a large section of the Suffern area, stretching from around Good Samaritan Hospital along Route 59 toward Route 202, and reaching from the other side toward Rockland Turnpike. The new section connects with the existing Suffern eruv in the Route 202 and Rockland Turnpike area, creating one expanded and connected eruv.

The project proved far more complicated than simply extending the existing lines. Organizers invested tremendous amounts of time, money and effort into the expansion, with numerous locations requiring customized solutions and carefully planned construction in order to meet the necessary halachic standards.

After an extensive period of planning, construction and detailed work, the project has now finally been completed. Beginning this week, the newly expanded section is officially active and kosher, bringing a long-awaited convenience to the dozens of families living throughout the newly included area.

To mark the milestone, a gathering was held for families from the area, celebrating the completion of the project and giving residents an opportunity to hear about the details of the new eruv, the extensive work that went into establishing it, and the relevant guidelines for its use.
