A dramatic incident Friday highlighted the lifesaving work of Hatzolah CJ and the organization’s commitment to providing emergency medical care to everyone in the communities it serves.

A young non-Jewish teen was helping out at a Jewish-owned shop in Jackson on Friday when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest, multiple sources told TLS.

Hatzolah CJ was dispatched along with 911, and Hatzolah CJ volunteers arrived almost immediately. The responders quickly began advanced lifesaving treatment and were able to deliver a shock, successfully reviving the teen.

The patient regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

“The incident also underscores an important point that many people may not realize: Hatzolah CJ volunteers respond to medical emergencies regardless of a patient’s background or religion,” a veteran Hatzolah member told TLS. “When someone is in need, their priority is saving a life.”

Hatzolah CJ has continued to expand its coverage throughout the Lakewood region, with volunteers responding in Lakewood and increasingly throughout Jackson, Toms River, Howell, Brick and surrounding communities.

Friday’s incident serves as another powerful example of the value of having highly trained, rapid-response Hatzolah CJ volunteers available throughout the region, often arriving before other emergency resources.
