The IDF announced Saturday several successful operations against Hamas terrorists.

In Deir al-Balah, the IDF struck and killed Sharif al-Hasanat, a Hamas company commander of the Deir al-Balah Battalion. The military said that he had spent a good deal of time repairing and reconstructing tunnels and had recently been involved in advancing attacks Israeli soldiers and civilians, adding that they eliminated him because he posed an immediate threat.

“Throughout the war, the terrorist led efforts to restore the underground infrastructure of the Hamas terror organization,” the IDF said. Hasanat had posed an “immediate threat to our forces and was eliminated.”

The IDF also said Friday that it had eliminated a terrorist the previous Wednesday who had participated in the Oct. 7 attack and had also held hostages. The terrorist, Sabahi Sami Mahmoud Shahata, was killed in an IDF strike in Nuseirat in central Gaza. The military said that he “took part in holding numerous hostages in Hamas captivity during the war” as well as participated in hostage-release ceremonies. He was eliminated because he was seen as posing an immediate threat while advancing attacks on troops and civilians, according to the military.

The IDF also eliminated threats Friday when two Gazans in two separate incidents attempted to cross the Yellow Line, the line demarcating the separation between territory under IDF control and territory still controlled by Hamas. The IDF currently controls 53 percent of the Gaza Strip.

The first to be eliminated was a terrorist whom the IDF killed because it said he posed an immediate threat. The second, who was armed with a knife, was arrested and taken to Israel for questioning.
