Activists from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign UK stormed an Asda supermarket in northwest London Friday, pulling items off shelves they deemed connected to Israel in any way, including Coca-Cola.

The group filmed the activists chanting “Israel on the pack, put it back” while a narrator explained the incident.

“Today we went into this Asda supermarket and we took the Israeli goods and the Coca-Cola products from the shelves. We did so because the sale of these goods supports Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians,” the narrator said.

“We are calling on Asda not to stock and sell these products because by doing that they are profiting from Israeli apartheid and they are profiting from the genocide. I’m removing Coca-Cola from the shelves because Coca-Cola operates factories from an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank,” one of the activists said.

“Right now, across the West Bank, Palestinians are facing relentless Israeli military assaults and settler attacks as part of a campaign to ethnically cleanse them from their land. By selling Israeli goods and Coca-Cola products, Asda is supporting these atrocities against Palestinians. We call on supermarkets like Asda to stop selling Israeli goods and Coca-Cola products, and we demand that the UK government take action now and ban all trade which supports Israel’s illegal military occupation, including all trade in goods and services with illegal Israeli settlements,” the narrator concluded.

They left a mess for the employees of the supermarket, accomplishing nothing but adding stress to the supermarket workers who have nothing to do with the conflict.

Activists claim to target Israel and Israeli-linked products, but sweeping large swaths of products off the shelves in an unregulated manner blurs the lines, causing intense anxiety for Jewish shoppers, according to Jewish groups. Security groups have also warned that “supermarket flash mobs” serve to intimidate the staff and increase tensions within the local community.
