‘YOU’RE MAKING ANTISEMITISM WORSE’: Hasan Piker Blames Jews as He Warns of Violence
Hasan Piker, the controversial Twitch streamer who has been accused of antisemitism, said in a live broadcast that Jews who continue to support Israel will face violence.
“If Jews in America keep putting this this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone’s going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews,” he said.
“I don’t know how people don’t recognize how dangerous this predicament is. How dangerous this is for Jews. You’re running around basically tying your entire identity to a country that inevitably will be seen as basically Jewish ISIS, and you’re saying, as Jews, this is all we care about,” he added.
“You’re making antisemitism worse,” he said, in a classic case of blaming the victim.
In June, Piker, along with his uncle, Cenk Uygur, was denied entry into the United Kingdom, which they said was due to their legitimate criticism of Israel.
Piker has invited controversy over his antisemitic comments for years, however.
After Oct. 7, he outright dismissed allegations of sexual violence by Hamas, calling them “rape fantasies” and “rape hallucinations.”
“It doesn’t matter if rapes happened on Oct. 7,” he said in a May 22, 2024, livestream. “It doesn’t change the dynamic for me.” He also said on Twitch that “in a totally just world, regardless of your background, any kind of f—— Zionist tendency should be treated in the same way as being a f—— rabid neo-Nazi … You shouldn’t even let someone be the f—— local dog catcher … if they have exhibited any sort of positive feelings about the state of Israel.”
He has called Orthodox Jews “inbred,” and in a grammatically challenged X post last May, wrote: “there’s no comparison between israel & hamas, one is a militant resistance comprised of orphaned soldiers born into a 77 year occupation, the other is a ethnoreligious supremacist apartheid state w nukes doing a genocide backed by the usa!”
More recently, he has campaigned for Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who is also seen by many Jewish advocates as antisemitic.
Jewish advocates and allies expressed dismay over Piker’s latest outburst.
“Islamist Communist Hasan Piker appears to threaten violence against American Jews if they support Israel and blames Jews for antisemitism,” Emily Schrader, human rights advocate and Jewish activist, posted on X. “This guy is literal trash.”
“Hasan Piker says American Jews who support Israel are like people supporting ‘Jewish ISIS.’ He also argues that supporting Israel is provoking attacks on American Jews,” wrote Aviva Klompas, an author and Jewish advocate.
“To be clear: Jews are not responsible for the people who hate them. And no political belief held by an American Jew makes them deserving of violence,” she added.
Mike Rogers, the Republican who is running against El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race, also weighed in.
“More calls for violence coming out of the El-Sayed campaign,” he wrote in a social media statement. “Here is his running mate, Hasan Piker, saying that if AMERICAN JEWS support Israel, they will be violently targeted because of it.”
“This is all in reaction to Michigan Democratic Congressional candidate Jeremy Moss, who happens to be Jewish, saying he is unsure if he will be able to support Abdul for these very reasons,” he said.
“Absolutely DISGUSTING. If Abdul El-Sayed had any courage at all, he would call this out and disavow Hasan Piker once and for all. We’re waiting, Abdul,” he added.
