Three teenagers were killed and four other people were injured in a devastating late-night crash on the Belt Parkway Tuesday night, triggering lane closures and a major emergency response along the busy highway.

The crash happened at around 11:35 p.m. Tuesday on the eastbound Belt Parkway near 65th Street in Bay Ridge, where a Cadillac Escalade carrying five people collided with a Honda HR-V.

Three teenage boys in the Cadillac, ages 16, 17 and 18, were rushed to local hospitals in critical condition and were later unfortunately pronounced dead. Two other teenagers in the Escalade, ages 16 and 18, were injured and hospitalized in stable condition.

The HR-V had two women in them, both of whom were also taken to the hospital for with injuries. The crash left one of the vehicles badly mangled and forced partial closures on the eastbound Belt Parkway as police and emergency crews worked at the scene.

The roadway has since reopened. No arrests have been made, as police are continuing to investigate what caused the tragic and deadly collision.
