Once Again: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected to Bring Flooding to Rockland County Thursday
Yisroel R.
Rockland County is expected to see a wet and stormy Thursday, with periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms bringing the potential for flooding across parts of the region.
Rain is expected to develop during the day and become more widespread as Thursday progresses, with some storms capable of producing heavy downpours. The strongest rain could fall quickly enough to overwhelm drainage systems and cause flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage locations.
The main concern will be the intensity of the rainfall, particularly during heavier thunderstorms. Even areas that do not see prolonged rain could experience problems if a strong storm drops a large amount of water in a short period of time.
The unsettled weather is expected to continue into Thursday night, with additional showers and thunderstorms possible before conditions gradually begin improving.
Drivers across Rockland County should avoid unnecessary travel, and be prepared for reduced visibility, ponding on roadways and potentially difficult travel during the heaviest periods of rain, especially in locations that are known to flood during strong storms.
