The disgraced British physician Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan, who was suspended in November 2025 during an investigation into antisemitic and pro-terrorism posts, slammed the Amidah prayer in an X post Wednesday, calling it a “zionist” prayer.

In traditional Judaism, the Amidah is a prayer that is recited three times daily.

“Jews have been reciting the zionist Amidah prayer for 2400 years. It was made up by rabbis. They pray it 3 times a day,” she declared in a post on X.

“The notion that jews are inseparable from zionism is their choice to make and sustain. So far, the vast majority (~90%) continue to support the existence of ‘israel’ aka zionism. Not surprising when their prayers and religious lives contain zionist teachings,” she continued, ignoring the importance of capitalization.

Despite a backhanded acknowledgment of the Jewish people’s millennia-old attachment to the land, Aladwan says they should give it up and “repent.”

“They can always opt to change and exist as a religious community without supremacy or stealing land. They can also just repent. They are actively choosing not to do either.”

She also targeted various sections of the prayer, claiming absurd interpretations and saying that the prayer should be reformed, with the sections she found offensive excised. She said that sections 10, 11, and 14 “call for the usurpation of Palestine and displacement of native population.”

This is what the prayer actually says:

• Section 10 is a prayer for the ingathering of the exiles.
• Section 11 is a prayer for a fair and just legislative system and judges.
• Section 14 is a prayer for the restoration of Jerusalem.

The words “Palestine,” “usurpation,” “displacement,” and “native population” do not appear anywhere in these sections. The native population of the land is the Jewish people, so it would be odd for Jews to pray for their usurpation and displacement.

“Section 1, 12, and 17 which establish a mythical ‘spiritual-bloodline’ supremacy model and actively target post-Torah divine revelations,” she wrote.

An understanding of Hebrew is not needed to check what the sections actually say, as English translations abound on the internet.

The relevant sections actually say the following:

• Section 1 praises God for being the father of our ancestors and the shield of Abraham.
• Section 12 is a prayer petitioning God to foil the malicious schemes of those who plot to harm us.
• Section 17 expresses the hope that God will accept our prayers and worship favorably.

How she got from here to there only her fevered brain knows. This will not help her case in her ongoing investigation by the General Medical Council for posts that “demonize, or express and encourage hatred towards Jews in general, their history and their way of life.”
