The bridge reopened Monday, Aug. 25, restoring access to a busy corridor that had been closed since June 3. Originally scheduled for completion on Oct. 3, the work finished early as part of a $16.4 million New York State Department of Transportation program to rehabilitate four key bridges in the lower Hudson Valley.

At the site Wednesday, Wieder awarded the certificates to Harrison & Burrows Bridge Constructors, Inc., KS Engineers, P.C., Boris Vays, Project Manager at KS Engineers, P.C., and Linu Abraham, Engineer with the New York State Department of Transportation.

“This early completion is a rare accomplishment for a project of this scale,” Wieder said, noting the bridge is now “open for business” and residents can once again travel the route.

The Assemblyman said his office worked closely with NYSDOT and other stakeholders throughout the closure to ease the impact on residents and local businesses and to help advance the project as quickly as possible. He also thanked elected officials from the Village of Spring Valley for maintaining regular contact with project managers and keeping the community informed.

The closure had shut down a 0.1-mile segment of Route 59 from New Clarkstown Road, detouring traffic via Forman Drive and South Pascack Road. Wieder thanked Harrison & Burrows, KS Engineers and NYSDOT for delivering a safer crossing for the Spring Valley community and all of Rockland ahead of schedule.
