A comprehensive Yom Tov security meeting was held with the NYPD’s 79th Precinct, as preparations get underway to ensure the community is fully covered throughout the upcoming Yom Tov season.

The meeting was attended by 79th Precinct Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector Arsenio Camilo, Community Affairs Clergy Liaison Rabbi Abe Lichtenstein, and representatives of Shomrim.

Participants went through the upcoming Yom Tov calendar in detail, discussing the unique security, traffic and logistical needs expected throughout the holiday season.

A major focus of the meeting was the continued rise in antisemitism and hate crimes and the importance of maintaining a strong police presence around shuls and other Jewish institutions. Plans for increased patrols and security coverage throughout Yom Tov were discussed.

Officials also reviewed traffic needs during the busy pre-Yom Tov shopping season, including the deployment of traffic agents  in heavily traveled shopping areas, as well as preparations surrounding Tashlich and other large community gatherings.

Officials said the 79th Precinct is fully preparing for the upcoming Yom Tov season, with the meeting serving as a detailed review of the calendar and the extensive security and logistical planning needed for the weeks ahead.
