President Donald Trump told Glenn Beck, the conservative broadcaster and founder of Blaze Media, that he would “absolutely” support prohibiting Sharia law nationwide.

“You do have pockets of it,” Trump said, pointing to London and Paris, where he claimed it has become “almost like their second way of life.”

“I would absolutely prohibit the Sharia law thing,” Trump continued. “It is happening in this country a little bit, and where we see it, we take it out. You have to take it out. You have one system. We have a great system.”

Nine states, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Tennessee, have enacted measures restricting courts from applying certain foreign or religious legal codes when they conflict with state or federal law, according to Religion News Service.

At the federal level, Republican Representatives Keith Self and Chip Roy launched the “Sharia-Free America Caucus” in December 2025. The group, which has since expanded to 68 members from 25 states, says it is working to ensure that the U.S. Constitution remains the country’s sole governing legal framework.
