Samira Mohyeddin, a Canadian pro-Hamas activist, expressed outrage in an online video she posted to social media over the installation of granite pavers bearing the names of Shiri Bibas and her children, who were taken hostage and then brutally murdered by Hamas, outside the University of Toronto.

The names of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas were engraved into granite pavers and installed in the pavement of the University of Toronto campus as a tribute to the victims of Hamas who became the face of the hostage crisis. The move was welcomed by Jewish groups, as well as faculty and staff at the college, while it drew criticism from campus anti-Israel activists.

Mohyeddin is known in pro-Hamas activist circles as a broadcaster with On the Line Media and holds degrees in Middle Eastern studies and genocide studies. She has also expressed support for the Iranian regime and has opposed Iranian dissidents.

The pro-Hamas activist said that she wanted to share with her audience “something that I just found out that is very disturbing.”

“The University of Toronto, my alma mater, I just found out that they have put the names of Shiri Bibas and the Bibas children on the pavement just outside King’s College Circle, which is where the Palestine Solidarity encampment was known as the People’s Circle for Palestine,” she said.

Mohyeddin found this to be “unbelievable,” questioning why the university would install “these names” on its campus but failing to explain why she found this so offensive.
