According to trusted sources, Walmart has recently purchased the shopping center property surrounding its Route 59 store in Airmont, giving the retail giant ownership of the property that is home to a number of additional stores and businesses.

The shopping center, located at 250 Route 59, has long been anchored by Walmart and includes a mix of stores, restaurants and other businesses. Current tenants include HIVE, Le Brick, Citi Bank and several additional establishments operating along the busy Route 59 shopping stretch. 

The purchase marks a significant change for the property, with Walmart now becoming not only the center’s largest tenants but the owner of the surrounding shopping center as well. It was not immediately clear what plans, if any, Walmart has for the property following the purchase.

The future of some businesses currently operating in the center could therefore depend on the new ownership and their individual lease agreements. At this point, no widespread changes or closures have been announced.

HIVE Discount, however, is expected to remain at the location for years to come, with reports of the supermarket locking in a long-term lease in place, securing its location for the many years to come.
