As the nation approaches the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, communities across Rockland County are preparing to once again come together to remember the lives lost on one of the darkest days in American history.

Multiple villages and towns across the county are planning public remembrance ceremonies and gatherings around Friday, September 11, giving residents an opportunity to honor the victims, recognize the heroism of first responders, and reflect on the events that forever changed the nation.

This year marks a quarter-century since the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93, and communities across the country are preparing special commemorations to ensure that the victims and heroes of that day continue to be remembered by a new generation.

For Rockland County, where many residents have deep personal connections to September 11 and its aftermath, the upcoming anniversary will once again be marked locally with moments of remembrance, reflection and gratitude.
