Two California residents have been sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison for their roles in an armed home burglary in Point Pleasant Borough, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.

Jaheim Wilson, 24, and Oleyah Brown, 22, both of Stockton, California, were sentenced Friday in connection with the August 7, 2025 burglary of a home on Barton Avenue.

Wilson was sentenced to seven years in state prison for burglary and must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act. He also received a concurrent five-year sentence, including 42 months of parole ineligibility, for unlawful possession of a weapon.

Brown was also sentenced to seven years in state prison for burglary, subject to the No Early Release Act.

Authorities said Point Pleasant Borough Police responded to the Barton Avenue home at approximately 1:38 p.m. after receiving a report of a home invasion in which a gunshot had been fired.

Investigators determined that Wilson, armed with a handgun, and Brown kicked open the rear door of the residence while the homeowner was inside. The pair burglarized the home and stole personal property before Wilson fired a single gunshot into the air and both fled the area, prosecutors said.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Point Pleasant Borough Police identified Wilson and Brown as the suspects. Detectives located them later that day in Toms River, where they were taken into custody without incident.

Both have remained held in the Ocean County Jail since their arrests and pleaded guilty to the charges on June 15, 2026.
