A Jackson Township woman has been sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison for shooting a 79-year-old man at a home in Jackson last year, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.

Marian Rojas, 34, was sentenced Friday following her guilty plea to aggravated assault in connection with the October 24, 2025 shooting.

Under the No Early Release Act, Rojas will be required to serve at least 85 percent of her seven-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole. She pleaded guilty to the charge on June 15, 2026.

Jackson Township Police responded at approximately 9:15 p.m. on October 24 to a residence on Jackson Pines Road for a report of a gunshot victim.

Officers found a 79-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.

Investigators determined that Rojas had shot the victim and fled the scene, prosecutors said. Authorities broadcast a description of Rojas and her vehicle to surrounding police departments.

Approximately 45 minutes later, Manchester Township Police stopped a vehicle matching the description and found Rojas behind the wheel. She was taken into custody without incident and has remained held in the Ocean County Jail since her arrest.

Prosecutor Billhimer said the victim’s desire to show compassion and forgiveness toward Rojas was a significant factor in the resolution of the case.
