JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (VINnews) — Two women have been charged in connection with a crash that killed 8-month-old Yitzchok Rosenberg and seriously injured his mother and sister in a Jackson Township grocery store parking lot.

Maria CobonGuzman, 20, of Trenton, was charged with manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle without ever having possessed or been issued a valid driver’s license and two counts of assault by auto, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

Ariadna Lazaro-Flores, 22, of Toms River, was charged with knowingly engaging in conduct creating a substantial risk of death to another.

Authorities said CobonGuzman had never possessed a valid driver’s license in New Jersey or any other state. Prosecutors allege Lazaro-Flores knew that but nevertheless allowed CobonGuzman to operate the vehicle.

The crash occurred Friday in the parking lot of NPGS, a kosher supermarket on West County Line Road. CobonGuzman was driving a Ford Fusion when the vehicle struck Yitzchok, his mother, Golda Chana, and his sister, Rochel.

Yitzchok was critically injured and later pronounced dead at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Golda Chana and Rochel were also seriously injured and transported to the hospital. Community reports said Golda Chana underwent emergency surgery.

Both CobonGuzman and Lazaro-Flores were taken into custody and transported to the Ocean County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
