Gaza residents are reporting that food aid is accumulating inside Gaza and sitting there uncollected as prices in the food markets keep dropping, according to the Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT). The government bureau posted footage showing children and adults swarming mountains of food parcels and flinging them about and an image of piles of food boxes.

The bureau said these images undercut claims of starvation and food shortages in the Gaza Strip; instead, it said that the amount of aid currently entering Gaza exceeds the nutritional requirements of the population.

“When aid is left untouched, the conclusion is clear. Gaza is not lacking food; it is flooded with it,” COGAT said in its statement on X alongside the footage. “The evidence from inside Gaza, the UN’s own findings, including UNICEF’s latest SMART survey, and COGAT’s humanitarian data all point to the same reality.”

“Claims of famine and widespread shortages are not supported by the facts. Continuing to promote them only serves Hamas and its efforts to manufacture a false picture of crisis in Gaza,” it added.

Indeed, earlier this month, COGAT released jaw-dropping statistics on food aid entering Gaza, saying that six to seven times more food aid is entering the Strip than before the war.

Six hundred aid trucks enter Gaza daily. Before the war, roughly 500 trucks, only 70 of them carrying food, entered every day. Of the 600 that enter daily, 70 percent to 80 percent are food trucks. That’s 420 to 480 food trucks daily, which means that about six to seven times more food is entering Gaza than before the war. There are no restrictions on the types of food allowed in, and food prices have dropped by 72 percent.

“Humanitarian aid flows into Gaza every single day, containing enough food, medical, and WASH [water, sanitation, and hygiene] supplies to support the Gazan civilian population,” COGAT said in a statement at the time.
