North American aliyah is surging, with more than 1,100 new immigrants arriving in Israel during August alone, marking a record-breaking month for Nefesh B’Nefesh.

The wave caps one of the organization’s busiest summers. More than 2,200 North Americans are expected to make aliyah between June and September, arriving on nearly 100 organized flights or completing the immigration process from within Israel. Around 2,700 have already made aliyah from North America this year, with more than 4,000 projected by year’s end.

The newcomers span a strikingly broad range. This summer’s group includes roughly 1,100 singles, 480 families and 250 retirees, with an average age of just 29. Approximately 700 children are preparing to enter Israeli schools, including 80 beginning first grade.

They are arriving from Jewish communities across the United States and Canada, with New York, New Jersey, Florida, California, Maryland, Illinois and Ontario among the leading points of origin. Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Modi’in, Ra’anana and Beit Shemesh remain popular destinations, but around 650 newcomers are settling in Israel’s North and South, bringing new residents and professionals to communities outside the country’s central population hubs.

The new olim include doctors, nurses, lawyers, educators, accountants and other professionals. The surge comes as Nefesh B’Nefesh, founded in 2002, recently celebrated facilitating its 100,000th oleh, making the current wave another major milestone for North American aliyah.

If current projections hold, 2026 will finish as one of Nefesh B’Nefesh’s strongest years on record, with thousands of North American Jews choosing to move their families, careers and futures to Israel.
