‘WE’RE GOING TO HIT THEM HARD’: Trump Vows Retaliation After Iran Attacks U.S. Forces
President Donald Trump vowed Monday to strike back against Iran for its earlier strikes on U.S. forces in Jordan that day, telling Fox News he would “hit them hard.”
“I just spoke with President Trump, who told Fox News the United States will respond to the Iranian attack on U.S. forces overnight in Jordan,” Trey Yingst reported on Fox News. “The president said, ‘We’re going to hit them hard. There will be a response.'”
Fox News also reported that the president said that all of the missiles launched by Iran in this latest attack were intercepted by U.S. air defense systems except for one, which was identified as not going to cause damage and was therefore allowed to slip through the defense system.
“This comes as the president said the Iranians want to meet so badly, but he doesn’t know if you can count on them to make a deal. But added that the current U.S. sanctions against the Iranian regime are kicking in strongly. But again, the headline here: President Trump telling Fox News that the United States will respond to this attack on U.S. forces in Jordan overnight,” the Fox News correspondent concluded.
The president posted an AI-generated video of U.S. forces attacking Kharg Island, which is seen as a threat to the linchpin of Iran’s oil economy.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials are acknowledging that U.S. sanctions are beginning to take their toll, and experts warn that continued economic pain could ignite fresh unrest in Iran.
