WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews) — Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed and former Republican congressional candidate Dan Bilzerian share nearly two dozen donors who gave more than $61,000 combined to their campaigns, according to a Fox News Digital review of Federal Election Commission filings published Monday.

The candidates sit on opposite ends of the political spectrum. El-Sayed has called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, higher taxes on the wealthy and Medicare for All. Bilzerian supported the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts and advocated lower taxes and less regulation. Both have called on the United States to cease all aid to Israel.

Shared donors contributed $23,144.12 to Bilzerian’s campaign and about $38,626.20 to El-Sayed’s campaign, the review found. Their overlapping network includes prominent critics of Israel.

Bilzerian lost the Republican primary in Florida’s 6th Congressional District to Rep. Randy Fine, who is Jewish. The contest drew condemnation from Republican leaders after Bilzerian released a 2½-minute AI-generated advertisement that called Fine a “fat Jew,” depicted him with horns, used the slur “Shylock” and referenced Adolf Hitler with the line, “Should we revisit that Austrian painter’s opinions?” Bilzerian has also said “Jewish supremacy is the greatest threat to the world today.”

El-Sayed has accused Israel of committing “genocide” against Palestinians. He has been endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders and has drawn scrutiny over associations with far-left streamer Hasan Piker, from whom he later distanced himself after Piker’s remarks about Jewish Americans.

Among the shared donors is Georgia attorney Ibrahim Awad. FEC records show Awad gave $7,000 to El-Sayed’s campaign around March 2026 and $12,651.88 through a joint fundraising committee supporting Bilzerian in April 2026. On the “Sumud Podcast” in August 2025, Awad compared Israel’s campaign in Gaza to the Holocaust, saying it was “happening in real time right in front of us,” and described Zionism as a “toxic way of thinking” rooted in “supremacy.”

Texas businessman Hussein “Sam” Mahrouq, the child of Palestinian refugees, donated $3,500 to El-Sayed between May 2025 and April 2026 and more than $1,000 through a committee supporting Bilzerian. Mahrouq also gave $400,000 to American Priorities PAC, which was formed to counter the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and has donated to Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., both critics of U.S. aid to Israel. In a statement, Mahrouq said a contribution “should not be interpreted as an endorsement of every position taken by a candidate or organization.”

Muhi Khwaja, co-founder of the American Muslim Community Foundation, donated $625 to El-Sayed and $26.68 to Bilzerian. In a November 2023 essay, Khwaja wrote that “the philanthropic world can no longer turn a blind eye to the collective punishment facing Palestinians.”

Neither El-Sayed’s campaign nor Bilzerian’s campaign responded to inquiries from Fox News Digital about the shared donors or their positions on Israel.

El-Sayed, a physician and former Wayne County health director, won Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary and is running in a closely watched general election. His campaign has separately drawn attention for receiving more than $115,000 from dozens of individuals tied to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, an organization designated as a terrorist group by the United Arab Emirates and labeled as such in Florida and Texas.

Bilzerian, a social media personality and poker player, spent more than $1 million of his own money on the Florida race and received about 19% of the vote. Jewish organizations and Republican officials condemned his campaign as antisemitic. Fine, the incumbent, won the primary by a wide margin.
