NJ Natural Gas To Hold Energy Assistance Days In Lakewood

Aug 31, 2026·4 min read

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) will hold its annual Energy Assistance Days throughout September, October and early November, bringing representatives to communities across Ocean, Monmouth and Morris counties to help customers access programs that can assist with their energy bills.

The company has scheduled 27 in-person events throughout the three counties. Customers will be able to meet one-on-one with NJNG representatives and local community action agencies to learn about available assistance programs, determine eligibility and receive help with the application process.

Customers who are behind on their natural gas bills may also qualify for payment arrangements to help bring their accounts current. Representatives will also provide information on ways customers can better manage their energy costs and improve home comfort.

“Every household’s situation is unique, and Energy Assistance Days events connect customers with resources that best fit their individual energy needs,” said Maria Delaplain, manager of Customer Outreach at New Jersey Natural Gas. “Many people are surprised to learn they may qualify for assistance.”

NJNG said that, for example, a family of four with a household income of up to $164,337 may be eligible for assistance. NJNG’s Energy Assistance team now processes applications for first-time applicants, making it easier for customers to access available support.

Bilingual representatives from NJNG and local community action agencies will be available to help customers navigate available grants and determine eligibility.

Programs include:

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Universal Service Fund (USF)
  • Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE)
  • NJ SHARES Energy Assistance Grant

Customers seeking assistance should bring current documentation, including Social Security cards for all household members, government-issued identification, proof of residence, recent natural gas and electric bills, and proof of income for all household members over age 18.

Income-eligible customers may also qualify for no-cost weatherization programs through the New Jersey Comfort Partners Program or NJNG to help reduce energy usage.
