Israeli authorities carried out a large-scale enforcement campaign across Judea and Samaria over the past two days, demolishing illegal structures in Area C that officials said posed security and environmental concerns, including construction near the security fence and an important archaeological site.

The first operation took place Sunday in the village of Shuweika, north of Tulkarm, where forces from the Efraim District Coordination and Liaison office entered the area together with the Civil Administration’s Supervision Unit. IDF soldiers from the regional brigade provided security for the operation.

Authorities targeted unauthorized structures that had been erected immediately adjacent to the security fence near the Israeli communities of Bahan and Bat Hefer.

According to defense officials, the construction was carried out in Area C despite an existing order prohibiting building at the location. Officials said the unauthorized structures created an immediate security and safety concern because of their proximity to the fence and nearby Israeli communities.

Enforcement operations shifted to the Binyamin region the following day, with personnel from the Binyamin District Coordination and Liaison office joining the Supervision Unit and regional brigade forces for an operation near Birzeit.

During that operation, authorities demolished illegally constructed infrastructure in the Wadi Zeytun, also known as Ein Obeid, archaeological area in Area C.

The construction had been erected near the ancient road leading to Jerusalem and beneath the historic Khirbit Tarfon site, an archaeological location dating back to the First and Second Bais Hamikdash periods.

The IDF, Civil Administration and other security agencies said enforcement actions against unauthorized construction would continue throughout the region as part of an ongoing effort to uphold law and order.

Officials said authorities would particularly focus on illegal construction deemed to pose threats to security, public safety or stability in Judea and Samaria.
